The State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) is a free, trusted resource for individuals seeking guidance on Medicare enrollment, coverage options, and associated costs. The South Central Tennessee Development District houses this program through the South Central Area Agency on Aging & Disability.
SHIP offers free monthly classes designed to provide clear, unbiased information about Medicare. Whether you arrive with a notebook full of questions or an empty one ready to take notes, our team is committed to helping you leave feeling informed and confident in your decisions.
As part of a national program, SHIP provides one-on-one assistance, group education, and personalized counseling to Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers. The program helps individuals make informed choices about their healthcare coverage and benefits. SHIP also offers specialized support for individuals with limited incomes, Medicare beneficiaries under age 65 with disabilities, and those who are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid.
All SHIP services are provided at no cost to the consumer.
